Businesses meet nonprofits before C4C launches at No 127 Middle Lane.

BEAUFORT NC — Coins For Conservation (C4C) launched on May 23, bringing together community businesses and local nonprofit eco-partners at a kickoff event, officially introducing the new platform. C4C invites businesses in the Eastern NC area to browse the new website and select a verified eco-partner(s) to establish a funding relationship with.

ECO-PARTNERS

NC Coastal Federation Lewis Piner and Catherine Snead.

Businesses were able to browse a small fair where eco-partners showcased their causes and provided information on how they are working to preserve and protect the Eastern NC coastline. After the fair, attendees gathered inside No 127 Events on Middle Lane for a presentation of the new website.

Barbara McKenzie, owner of Inlet Inn, welcomes Guests.

Barbara McKenzie welcomed Guests and provided an overview of Coins For Conservation’s goals. A video presentation explained how C4C got started, showing interviews from the Mayor of Beaufort, Sharon Harker, and other organization representatives testifying to the platform’s importance in bringing a synergistic approach to the business-nonprofit dynamic in the Eastern NC area.

Guests observe a walkthrough of the website.

A demonstration of the website showed businesses how to choose an eco-partner and start the relationship process. Businesses that fill out an interest form and make a pledge commitment to a C4C eco-partner will be showcased on the website in a dashboard layout detailing the amount of giving and which eco-partners they’re giving to. It is up to businesses and eco-partners to decide how their relationships will develop and the terms of giving and reporting.

Beaufort Hotel, a major hotel in the area, attended the event and recently agreed to join the platform as a Founding Partner. Peter Grills, the hotel’s General Manager, spoke about the property’s existing relationship with the Friends of the Rachel Carson Reserve, and announced a giving pledge of $3 for every guest stay, which would go to the Reserve.

A call to action was made by Barbara McKenzie and Jay Tervo for attending businesses to sign up with eco-partners before the event formally concluded.

Businesses across Carteret County can begin choosing and working with eco-partners through the Coins For Conservation platform now.
